My album Everyone On Board was entered and eligible for a Grammy Award. Alas, I didn’t make it to the Nomination Round. But I have no reason to be ashamed, this year’s Children’s Album Nominees include John Legend, Rock for Children (featuring Alice Cooper and more), Divinity Roxx (bass player for Beyonce) & Divi Roxx Kids, Lucy Diaz and the Family Jam Band, and Lucy Kalantari & the Jazz Cats. Being a Recording Academy Member, I voted for one of them, but I can’t tell you now.
My year end stats on Spotify and Apple Music showed major growth and streams around the world! She Can Be a Captain Too was my top song on Spotify, and Everyone On Board (for Gani) was my top song on Apple Music.
But what matters the most is the positive impact I can make in people’s lives. A day or so after the Grammy Nominees were announced (and I was not among them), I received a message from a mom about her 3-year-old daughter who became a fan after seeing me perform in NH this past summer. The young girl’s favorite time to listen to my music is on the days she goes to the hospital. If that doesn’t tug at your heartstrings, I don’t know what will.
Then I got a letter (see below) and a CD from girl I met a decade or so ago, when she was about 4 years old. It is an honor to be an inspiration to her. She is a very talented composer and performer. That’s what matters.
